![‘Age Gap’ Is NO Bar For Love! Indian Women With Younger Partners Share's Why ‘Age Gap’ Is NO Bar For Love! Indian Women With Younger Partners Share's Why](https://bewiseprof.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Bewiseprof-89-678x381.jpg)
When there’s love and affection it doesn’t matter how old! If Bollywood actors Katrina Kaif, 38, and Vicky Kaushal, 33, got married in a highly talked about but hush-hush wedding last week, which was the most talked about event of the day? It’s all in the focus on their age! Yes, they had a 5-year gap in their age.
Of course, we’d wish to think things have changed and relationships or marriages are no longer based on the image of a younger man and an older woman with a successful man and not as a successful woman. But the reality is quite different!
Each time a female celeb gets married to one of their younger partners there’s a bit of brouhaha! Think Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Abhishek Bachchan, Urmila Matondkar-Mohsin Akhtar, Soha Ali Khan-Kunal Kemmu, Neha Dhupia-Angad Bedi or Amrita Singh-Saif Ali Khan.
But, what is thought of as taboo for others, is also seen by others as “breaking sexist norms” and “redefining gender stereotypes” of a kind by others such as actor Kangana Ranaut. The controversial ‘queen’ through an indirect Instagram comment, praised her fellow Indian cinema sector’s “leading ladies” – rich and successful women for taking a path which could have been a “crisis” for ladies once in the past.
However, for those who’ve maintained love over all else the old-fashioned stereotype is just that, an assumption that has no impact on their relationship.
HealthShots reached six women who have younger partners to find out the impact of age gaps on their relationships. Let’s take a lesson from these women!
1. Mou Trivedy
filmmaker: 36
Age gap with your partner Age gap with a partner: 6 years
Our relationship, given our age, did have its challenges in the beginning with the people who were around us. It never crossed our thoughts. It’s been four years of marriage and, as with any couple, we bring two distinct personalities and it’s worked out great for us. We are constantly energized, sharing ideas, and joy to explore new experiences together and gain knowledge from each other’s generations.
It’s just like every other type of relationship among two individuals on the planet. The age difference makes no difference.

2. Tisha Saraf
Make-up expert
Age: 31
The age gap between partner and spouse: is 1.5 years
For us we were young, and age gaps were never a concern. If your mental state is similar and you know each other well, then it should not be an issue. It could also depend on how responsible an individual is, and whether or not he’s at peace or not. These are the issues one should think about instead of focusing only on the age difference. In a light-hearted way If we have a disagreement I am always able to laugh and say, “Main aapse Badi hun na… zyaada Duniya Dekho hai Maine!”
3. Prof(Dr) Shikha Gupta
Teacher
Age: 47
Age gap with the partner 1 year
Age does not matter in our relationships. Sure, it was a concern for society at first but we were able to get through it. I believe that respect for each other is what is important and it doesn’t rely on age!
4. Meenakshi Sharma
Homemaker
Age: 37
Age gap with the partner Age gap with a partner: 8 years
I was indeed nervous when my boyfriend at the time and now husband suggested that I marry him. The gap in our age is nearly 8 years, which is significant to our parents.
But I remember my grandmother telling me, ‘Beta, jinki biwi use Badi hoti hai na, woh bahut lucky hote hai. Shadi chalaoge toh chalegi… baaki umar se kuch nahi hota’. It’s been three years since we got wed, and I’ve been happier.
from video games and serious debates, and fights to watching rom-coms – we’re doing all kinds of things. It’s hard to understand the point of all this.

5. Asma Khanna
Architect
Age: 33
Age gap with the partner Age gap with a partner: 4 years
To be truthful, the gap in age between my husband and me isn’t too big. He’s only 4 years older than me, and sometimes I feel I’m dealing with a child. But we do have enjoyable times! Sometimes, I’m missing those conversations with mature people. Indeed, I’m not certain whether it’s because of being older or two persons not clicking because I think that the amount of experience is also important to maintain the relationship. We are trying to work to improve the issue. We are hoping to be able to pass the litmus test with great flying colours… hilarious!
6. Liza Powell
Investment Adviser
Age: 35
The age gap between partner and spouse: 1.5 years
Our age differences have not been an issue or hindering us in any manner. We share similar values as well as the same sense of humour that helps us to communicate with each other. I believe that as long as there’s an atmosphere of love, respect and space in relationships no matter who is younger or older.
